Texas NOT leaving the Big 12

Just heard it on ESPN, Texas is not leaving the Big 12 conference for the PAC 10 and neither is Texas T&M.

Looks like the Big 12 is not imploding after all.

Heard someone speculating this morning that the Texans might go for their own TV deal.

Nobody wants Kansas in their league.

Why should they leave? It's now the Texas Longhorn Conference. Heck, I guess the remaining dwarves of the now defunct north division, along with the rest of the south division will get a handsome payout for going along with the soon to come Bevo Channel deal. Why go to the Pac 10 when you can run your own conference? You really can't blame Texas for taking advantage of such an opportunity. I think my beloved Huskers are a better fit in the Big 10 these days anyways.

Agreed on all three points.

I think the conference should be renamed TOC...Texas/Oklahoma Conference. That's all it's going to be anymore - Nebraska was the only legit team on the North side.

As a Husker fan, thanks for the compliment! To be honest, not all Husker fans are approaching this new alignment with the Big 10 without some sorrow and hesitation. I know I'm going to miss some the old rivalries that Nebraska had in the old Big 8 schools, plus honestly most Husker fans do respect the mighty Longhorns of Texas. It was a new rivalry that was working out , even if it did get heated at times. I guess the University of Nebraska's gripe is that the south division should have at least thrown a few bones Nebraska's way.

As a Husker fan, I wish the remaining schools of the now old Big 12 conference the best. I hope it works out for the teams that remain, and I'm glad the smaller schools won't be thrown out in the cold. It's gonna' be a bitter sweet and hard season for the Huskers as they finish out their final year in the Big 12. Most Husker fans are also aware that the Big 10 is gonna' great us with big smile and a forearm to the face as Nebraska tries to find it's place as the new baby on the block in the tradition filled Big 10 conference. College football is definitely gonna' be interesting for the next few years.
