What's the problem with these particular words?

Some folks can spell unusual words fairly easily, but cannot use these properly... What's the deal?

Since they are homonyms, perhaps some people don't know they are spelled differently and they write the one they know.

I know the difference and try to make sure I do it right and sometimes I type the wrong thing anyway. Get over it. It's a forum. I'm not submitting a doctoral thesis.

You mean "Homophones", don't you?

That would be "you're", right? I am fighting a loosing battle... So "you are"...

Your bass is nice.
You're a good player.
Is that bass yours?

I just find quite interesting that those who have English as their first tongue have problems with these things while being able to write sentences that are way more complicated.

Let alone the "Squier/Squire" thing...

Probably. But, it's a battle that's worth... no, that must be fought. It's bad enough our schools are churning out idiots by the hundreds, but to completely give up on the proper use of our lauguage... I just can't. I count myself among the spelling and Grammar nazi's. Granted, I misspell, and even use the wrong words on occasion too... but that's the difference.

I do it once in a while, occasionaly a couple of times in a given post (depending on the length of said post), but for the most part I'm on the mark. These people that post and text in bad shorthand, and worse spelling and grammar make me question their intelligence, or at the very least their age. Proper writing is important, the fact that what's being written is on a web site, message board, or a text message doesn't matter. Eh, I'll get off my soap box now.

I am sorry to inform you that you will have to turn in your Grammar Nazi card.

I thought homophonic meant someone who talks like Carson Kressley.
