Recently at a family gathering, I was talking with my uncle who is a freemason. Just general chat, about what that was all about, what it's like, etc. After a lengthy conversation he eventually asked me if I was interested in joining.
I told him I would think about it, and since then I've been doing some research on the net to see what I can find before I make a decision. Of course, there's all sorts of websites ranging from "seemingly relevant" to "conspiracy theories" so I figure this would be just a good of a place as any to see if anybody is a member, knows a member, or even people who are against the organization.
So, any info and/or advice would be greatly appreciated. Given that this is somewhat of a polarizing organization, I ask that you please keep this thread respectful or I'll personally delete it. But please don't take it in that direction.

To the OP, There are a few Freemasons on here, if you have genuine interest it may be best to contact them through PM if they "out" themselves here.

To the conspiracy theorists, secrecy and the power of fraternity are potentially dangerous tools for hidden agendas, and influence brokering. To be frank, they are.
Much like the rest of life, the truth of the FMs influence lurks somewhere in between.
Ask your Uncle. A few thoughtful questions in a private casual setting will go farther towards finding out more about it than asking us, lol.

A group of guys that get together and have a symbol language and rituals that they perform every so often. A fraternity of sorts that hangs out and has get to gethers. You have t believe there is a singular higher power.
Most say/believe there are only 3 levels of mason. In older texts I have read of other levels. I guess it depends on which chapter/type you are.
The Scottish free masons ended were morphed into a group known as the O.T.O.
There are many chapters all over.
I once asked a mason if he was a mason and he asked "are you a traveling man" and I said "I know enough to know I don;t know what your talking about." and I never choose to join because the chapter where I was seemed to be a bunch of old, balding, fat men who did very little with themselves.
Find articles about Dana Cary(Tools Drummer) and Masonry.
Wikipedia has some info.

| | | | I am I am a freemason, masonry uses to be a bit different from place to place, but there is a lot of rituals, if don't know what it is and don't have a prior interest in, maybe you should not join in, as can be a waste of your time.

The Sufis are "not amused" by the Freemasons because a fair amount of the ritualized material of the FMs is plagiarized and taken out of context from Sufi rites. Of course now the FMs have been using the same rituals for many generations, so their "ownership" and legitimacy is a fait accompli.
A friend of mine, a lifelong Satanist, joined the Masons. I asked him how that was possible, and he said their only requirements were that he be male, and profess a belief in God. He said certainly he believed in God, otherwise Satanism would have no meaning, so they had no issue with him. |

The Scottish free masons ended were morphed into a group known as the O.T.O. belive me OTO has nothing to do with freemasonry, they wish. Oto is just a rougue group the uses drugs and sex in religious and " magickal" practices, they are aleister crowley worshippers

| O.T.O or Ordo Templi Orientis was founded in germany at the turn of the twentieth century. It was based on Masonic rituals, but was not a lodge of Freemasonry. Aleister Crowley joined in 1910 and eventually became the leader of the organization, changing it's influences from Freemasonry to his own Thelemic orientation.
So they were never and are not Freemasons nor do they wish to be.

See what I mean? Ask your Uncle, only he can tell you about what his particular lodge/chapter does.
And to answer the above question:
Yes, I've traveled some.

i believe a requirement to join is a belief in a higher power. | | Thread Tools | Search this Thread | | | |
