Is there a car made that you could compare to a Fender P/J?

I hate that cars always have all these fancy features. A ton of electronics and a sound system and all sorts of balony that nobody wants or needs and it's only a reason to charge more for the car.

In the same mindset of the bass world, how a passive Fender is a reliable workhorse with low maintenance, other than strings once in a while etc. is there a car/truck/jeep that's readily available brand new in North America that follows that form? No power windows, no power seats, no power mirrors, no fancy stereo, no tv's in the ceiling, no onstar, I'd even be willing to go as far as no power steering.

A base model Civic or Camery comes to mind. Maybe a Base model Accent as well.

jeep JK

the previous model, TJ, were even more spartan, and with a straight-6 engine that's easy to work on...but i haven't heard many complaints about the JKs

with a jeep, even doors are optional--doesn't get much less frilly than that

Fender P = pickup truck, any brand. Reliable, fun to drive, workhorse.

J = Pickup truck with mag wheels and running boards. A bit more flashy, still works every day and never lets you down.

P - Pickup truck. It just gets the job done.

J - Ford Mustang. Relatively inexpensive but reliable and a smooth ride. You can get one relatively bare-bones or you can get one with more power and options, but never enough to where you would consider it to be overly flashy. A Mustang GT would be a J with a BadAss Bridge II and a J-Retro preamp.

P Bass = '57 Chevy BelAir

Timeless styling that never stopped being Cool

Simple and reliable, if a bit dated from a tecnological standpoint

Aftermarket hot-rod parts available from hundreds of vendors, but runs just fine in pure stock configuration

Fender P bass = Ford Mondeo - old design updated for 2009, workhorse, simple but effective, people still love them despite (in my opinion) not being the best lookers out there.
