Is there a guitar(acoustic, electric) community like here Talkbass?

Sign in to disble this ad
Hello, everybody.

I've played only bass ever since I started playing 6 years ago,

and 2 years ago, I suddenly felt the desire to play guitar and

sing Oasis songs and started playing.

I'd like to collect information and communicate with

the fellow guitarists too now.

If there's a guitarists community like here Talkbass,

could anyone let me know here?

Thank you.

TDPRI is usually good. Very telecaster oriented, though.

I don't think there's anything quite the same. Harmony Central is for musicians in general, and there are a lot of forums devoted to particular brands or styles of guitar (a Les Paul forum, a Tele forum, etc.). But there doesn't seem to be any one central forum for guitarists generally.

Two of my favorites:

For acoustics:
The Acoustic Guitar Forum - Powered by vBulletin - great for luthiers, too.

Electrics (I'm an SG/Gibson fanatic and love the mid-range brown sound of their humbuckers):

Seems like I post in a similar thread to this every few weeks. Anyways, once again, the Fender Discussion Page.

IME guitar forums experience a lot more trolling, or they're too narrowed down to a specific brand or model for me to really participate in, or both.

I could be wrong, though. I haven't looked for a good guitar forum in a while, since I've gotten settled in here....

It's been close to 5 years since I've been there, but The Gear Page was always pretty cool.

Fender Forum
+1 for the fender forum. the builders/luthier's forum is particularly useful. another couple of good ones are:

Fender Telecaster® Electric Guitar Central -- No. 1 in the World

Gretsch Guitar Discussion Forum

the people were pleasant and helpful in my experience, not unlike pretty much everyone here on TB.

I'm on the Acoustic Guitar Forum. Not a bad place with a nice group of users. Lots of willing guys to help out. Nice atmosphere.

How about a keyboard forum? I'm thinking about starting soon and want to get the gist of good brands as well as general knowledge.

I bought an acoustic guitar, but dont consider myself a guitarist, and will therefore NOT be joining any other forums. One is about all I can handle anyway.

The Gear Page is about as good as it will get with guitarists.

I gotta stay loyal to my low end brethren. I dont think guitarists can handle my unique disposition and ascerbic wit. I have a hard enough time dealing with other bass players, so it seems.

Meh, some of the guys are about the equiv of a cool TBer. I've used TGP for lots of info because I've been under a rock for the last 10 years, guitar wise.

SOME being the key word?
To be honest, I dont have the same interest in guitar that I do bass.
I got a classical guitar just to help with the writing process, something to strum some rhythm chords to.
