Something just happened to me that I simply have to share. I live in NYC, an unemployed college student, and was in a rush to catch the bus home. I really needed to get home ASAP to attend to something. I see the bus arrive about a block and a half away, and make a run for it. As I'm running, about 5 seconds later I hear someone yell "HEY!" behind me once. I stupidly didn't think it was directed at me, so I kept running to catch the bus. A second "HEY" yelled, and I turn around. I see a lady point to the ground a few feet away. I walk over, and there on the ground, face down, lay my iPhone 4. I frantically check my pockets, and sure enough, no iPhone. I thank the lady like a million times, I was so out of it I couldn't even think what to say. It all happened so quick, and a few seconds later she was on her way. As I'm walking away, a second lady with a stroller says to me, "There are still some good people in the world." I, still distraught, just nod in agreement. But I was yelling in my head, AMEN sister.
God bless that woman...I have no laptop for school, my iPhone is my life. All my personal info, docs, csv files, PDFs, are in it. Such an honest individual is not easy to come by, much as it pains me to say. |

I can't believe a college student in this modern time would not keep at least one backup of everything!
Otherwise, I agree, there are actually a lot of good people in the world. There just happens to be a lot of "others", too. |

Yes, there are definitely good people in the world! I'm lucky enough that my friends are a few of them .
Also, HUGE yes to backing up your iphone!

A friend of mine left his wallet with $400 dollars in it at a pizza cart in a Las Vegas music festival. He checked lost & found a couple hours later when he realized and someone had returned it. Money and all.

| | | | If I find money, I keep it. If I find a phone, I go through all the information on it and than return it. If I find a wallet, I return it without touching anything.
If I find money, and it happens to be around the holidays... I will keep it with me, but go to a few stores/locations of a sort in the surrounding area. Tell the shop keep if someone reports lost money to have them call me. Other than that... Things do not always happen by coincidence. You may be deserving of it. I once found $420 bucks (I should have bought a ton of weed with it....) but instead I gave half to my mom. God only knows how much she might have needed it and I had not known.
But either way, good job on your stroke of luck! Perhaps a burn a small candle in honor to her.
