There is now way in hell im going to pay for it twice. Ive lost my software and the little sheet that has the verification code on it, and I reinstalled windows xp and all it had was a 30 day trial of the microsoft office.
I thought my dad had one laying around... but I cant find it.
any one no of a legitimate website to download it from? My friend told me look for a torrent, but it looks like to have to download a torrent program to download a torrent? |

There only reason I want i really wanted microsoft word was because I type up papers at school and email them to myself or save them on a flash drive so I can print them at school.
This is possible with open office? |

This is possible with open office? | Definitely. All you have to do is make sure to select Microsoft Word format (.doc) when saving your file.

There are open source alternatives to many popular programs like Paintshop, Office, etc. They're all the result of a lot of hard work from a large group of people, and they're all available for free. |

(p.s. Papyrus is one of the fonts I could rant about for hours )

Everything is saved the server so you won't need to send it via email or flash drive. Work on it at home, save it, go to school open your browser work on it some more. You can even save it for offline mode now! https://www.google.com/accounts/Serv...epage&rm=false

On a 4 gig usb flash drive (which I think you can get in boxes of cereal these days), you can build a hell of a "utility folder" that includes portable versions of Open Office, GIMP, Inkscape, etc. and still have more than 3 gigs left for documents.
These portable versions run from your flash drive and don't need to write to any local machine. So you really can take all of your applications AND documents with you to any machine you find yourself on and work on them without installing anything to local drives.
One nice thing about this is that with Firefox portable I can take Firefox and all of my favorite plugins, themes, and extensions with me wherever I go. www.portableapps.com | | Thread Tools | Search this Thread | | | |
