| | | | There's nothing as demoralizing as...

...being unemployed and looking for work.
Job #1...laid off.
Job #2...laid off.
Job #3...I caught my boss in the parking lot, in MY car, smoking pot. I called the police. He fired me. Oh well; I hated being the only SOBER person there, anyway.
Job #4...temp agency. Work assignments ended and they didn't have anything else.
All within a year. Unemployed for the last 6 months. I either get "We're not hiring right now," "No," or "Ohhh...we just filled that position."
Makes you feel all warm and fuzzy inside. |

| | | And then you run into people like this, and it totally ruins your day:
I walk into a certain retail establishment with a completed application and resume. Girl at service desk: Hi. Can I help you with something? Me: Yes; I have an application and resume I want to submit. Girl at service desk: Oh okay! For here? Me: ...yyyesss. For here. |

It'll turn around for you sooner or later. As John Gorka says, work brings more luck than knocking on wood, so even though it's demoralizing, just keep at it.

I'm back in school, substitute teaching (although school's almost out) and looking for something that will be flexible for my two days of classes. I'm playing bass a lot though. It really made me realize how much of my self-worth I got from work. It was a wake up call that sent me back to church.
Also, keep your car doors locked at all times! |

I'm in the same boat (looking for a job) honestly, for me, it's the worst part of the working world. I live in an area where the jobs are so rare and everyone is fighting to get them. I'm hoping something comes up for both of us.

If I don't hear a story by tomorrow, I'll make one up myself!

Drive down the street and you see 5 businesses with signs looking for employees. Trucks even have 'now hiring' painted on the side of their door.
I make $23.61 an hour at a grocery store (part-time) and teach part-time. That grocery store is desperate for employees. Granted the new employees are paid on a different pay scale than me (I've been there for 17 years).
Anyway, good luck. The best thing to do is get some skills that will get you hired. Take first aid, learn a trade... make yourself valuable to a prospective employer.

I open the door and a cloud of smoke rolls out.
Sue over a crappy minimum wage pizzaboy job? Why? |
