They call me the working man....

That's what I am!

Started a new job at a local medical device company. Second shift, 3-11:30PM. First evening on the job was last night, it went pretty well, even met some people I had worked with several years ago at my old job. I'm actually with a temp agency, but I was told at my orientation that if things went well after three months they'd probably hire me full-time. That's a pretty common practice nowadays, companies want to see how you'll do before committing to a new employee. Good timing, too - my unemployment benefits run out this week!

A nice long vacation for nineteen months, but it's time to get to work!

Congratulations man!

I worked 2nd shift for about 5 years - I loved every bit of it. I made 7.5% more, got free parking @ my work, had to deal with a lot less people and got a lot more done. Only bummer was the band I played with didn't want to rehearse on the weekends, so I was out...

Yeah, that pretty much kills it for my being in a band, unless I can find a band with nothing but second-shifters that rehearse in the mornings!

Not necessarily. I joined a band that rehearses on the weekend - most gigs were infrequent enough that taking the occasional Friday night off wasn't an issue. But then again, we were playing for fun (and money) by being in a cover band, so we could play along with the cd/mp3s to get more practice in.

Yeah, that's true. Well, we'll see what comes down the pike in the future. In the meanwhile I've got a couple of ideas kicking around in my head that I'm thinking about exploring.

The second-shifters. That could be a cool band name.

Glad you're back to work.
