Things that annoy(ed) you in college?

I walk into the laundry room yesterday morning, and all of the washers are being used. No big deal.

8 hours later, all of those washers are still full of the same clothes, just sitting there. Nobody had come to pick them up.

So, this morning, I get up early so I can beat everyone to the washers. Two of those loads are still sitting there. There's one open machine. I snag that. 30 minutes later, I go to pick it up and throw it in a dryer. Those are all full.

It's been almost 10 hours. Those dryers are STILL FULL WITH THE SAME CLOTHES.

When I was in college, anything left in the dryer for too long was put on top of the dryer by whoever needed it next. If it was still there when the NEXT person needed the dryer, the stuff on top went on the floor and the stuff in the dryer went on top, etc.

Never heard or saw anyone complain.

I'd feel bad if something got stolen, though.

Things that annoy me in college:

Stupid Freshers (first year students)
My dorm was very noisy and sometimes I would not sleep until 2am.
Expensive books. Some of my books are £40 EACH.

Yeah, that's how we do it here too.

But Scarlet Fire, there is an option B... Just take the Amtrak back into Portland for Columbus Day and have your parents do your laundry. It doesn't cost any quarters, either.

Oh, I'm pretty excited for that. But there was no way I could last until Columbus day. I would have smelled awful.

Dude, dump the clothes out. We do this at our apartment complex, and it isn't college housing...most of us are middle-class in our 30's.

As for what annoyed me in college?

Classes.

Fair 'nuff...

How's Northeastern treating you, besides not having a lot of chicks thrown at your feet?

I quite like it, actually. The campus is fantastic, and Boston is a whole bunch of fun. It's kind of hard to adjust to how distant the professors are, though. At my high school, my classes were about 10 people, and my graduating class was only 130. Now, I'm just a number.

My chem professor, however, is absolutely the exception to that rule. He's an older English gentleman who is absolutely the nicest person I've ever met. He's like the class grandpa.

I had a basement apartment back in school (a la Laverne & Shirley)
right next to the laundry room.

All the other apartments in the building were occupied by...folks
who I guess weren't familiar with the intricacies of indoor plumbing.

Lo and behold, someone loads up the drier with THREE large area rugs.

The fire department dropped by about 4 in the morning.

I had finals about 3 hours later .

Sears still sells a "portable" washer & drier that runs on 115VAC.
The washing machine even comes with a doo-dad for hooking-up
to a kitchen sink.

That's sick, dude. Have you made it down to The Middle East in Cambridge yet? Best club in the area, for my money. www.mideastclub.com (downstairs is what you want to click on)

The Dwarves are playing there in November. If you're into that sort of stuff at all, you should go.
