Things to do in New York

Sign in to disble this ad
I'm going to New York in a month and I was wondering are some things to see and do there. Doesn't have to be music-related but I wouldn't mind a cool music shop or something. I have plans to do the main site-seeing already, just wondering what to do in my spare time. Thanks!

The Top of the Rock (30 Rockefeller Center) is a great place to view New York.

Il Vagabondo (E. 62nd St, between 1st and 2nd Aves.) has an indoor bocce court and delicious Italian food at a decent price.

Mike Stern and Chris Potter both play fairly regularly at the 55 Bar. If you want to see one of the world's best currently playing guitar or sax players, go see one of these shows at this cool small venue.

Also should add that I'm not 21, so no bars. And I believe I'm going to the Top of the Rock.

The Met is worth at least an afternoon of your time.

The Metropolitan Museum of Art is well worth a visit. And somewhere in there is a collection of musical instruments. I know it's there, but I haven't a clue on how to find it.

There are about 1 zillion little museums about NYC, it can be overwhelming. Same with restaurants.

Good luck,

edg

Would you happen to like doughnuts? Definitely give Doughnut Plant on the lower east side a visit...you won't be sorry

Well, unless you're on a diet or something

When I was back in NYC in 2003, my wife and I went on a tour of a recreated turn-of-the-century tenement house on the Lower East Side. It was very interesting to see how our ancestors lived upon arrival in the USA.
