I saw the movie Avatar last week in 3D. You need to buy glasses in order to see the 3d.
When you get out of the theater there is a big bin, with "think green" written on it, where you need to drop your glasses.
The thing is, if you want to see that movie again or any other 3D movies you can't use the same glasses, you HAVE TO buy other ones.
How green is that?
well....it might be about the green when you think about it.

You can't see the movie if you don't buy the ticket and the glasses. I have no plan to see it again, but I could have give the glasses to my kids or a friend. They would save 4$ and it would be greener.
You just can't.

This is stupid, and I refuse to see the movie in 3D now for that reason. There is no reason you should not be able to bring in your own glasses.

Anyways, my theater did not charge for the glasses. It was $14.75 to see it in IMAX just like any other movie.

You ever been to a hotel with a little placard that said "If you want to reuse this towel/linen, leave it on the rack. If you want us to clean it, place it on the floor" or something to that effect. They usually say that it saves the environment by using less energy and water to wash your linens. Guess what? Saves them money on energy and water as well. This "green" movement is a blessing for them.

well....it might be about the green when you think about it. | By "Think Green" they mean by all the cash they'll be making off making people buy these glasses!
But once I went to see a movie in 3d recently, and they were in little plastic bags, so that's still wasting plastic...
Regardless, I'm pretty sick of the "green" bandwagon.
I'll think in whatever color of the visible light spectrum I damn well please.

The old red and blue 3D glasses simply don't work for me. The new ones they had for Avatar worked perfectly- they didn't rely on using both eyes. While I'm sure there were effects that worked better when using both eyes, using just my left still worked- it's the only movie I've ever seen where the 3D actually worked like it is supposed to. |

I wonder which green they're really thinking of.
