I won an auction for a used iMac on July 1st...paid for it on July 2nd with Paypal. I haven't heard from the guy since i won. After trying to contact the guy with at least 4 emails (2 thru the ebay site and 2 using his regular email address directly). I got his phone number thru ebay and tried to call him yesterday...got his voicemail. Today is the 15th. I know it was his number because it was the kind where you say your name into it. No reply yet in almost 24 hours. Technically, i think he has 30 days to ship, but i also see that he has been doing other transactions since my auction ended. People have been getting their stuff, but not me. I can't even get an email back!
Am i overreacting too soon...or should I go thru Paypal and try to stop the payment?

| | | | personally, i would contact paypal and ebay and put in for a claim.
a high price item like a computer should have constant communication via email
& he should of supplied you with a tracking # as well.
Over 2 weeks is just BS IMO, very unacceptable.

What was his feedback like? |

If he's for real, it will get his attention and he will a) let you know he's genuine, and b) he will ship it (because otherwise, he loses his money).
If he's a scammer, you'll get your money back. Who gives a rat's @$$ what happens to him.

In almost 8 or 9 years of ebay-ing, I have never had to deal with this...I guess I am lucky

| | | | DONT close the claim untill you receive the item.
there are a few common scams that this can be:
1) Double Claim Scam- after you open the claim he gives you a tracking number and you close the scam. he shipped you a blank box, and you cant reopen the claim because you can only file a claim once.
2)90 days- you have to open a claim within 90 days of purchase. you did that, so your safe from that.
there are a few others, but they're more far fetched.

I had to do it once, and it scared the crap out of the seller once I filed it; I had my item 2 days later. If that doesn't happen to you, PayPal is pretty good at compensating you for your losses (given that the item is over a certain amount in dollars).
