Thinking of moving to Europe... Other than playing music I have no trade.... I have a dog.. I speak only American English.I am however very enthusiastic about learning what ever language I need to.

Where should I go?

I forgot... I'd prefer a mild climate.

Move to Pakistan and become a taxi driver. Just to balance things out a bit.

There are some European countries that you can get away with using only English, but unless you want to stay almost exclusively in the Great Britain/Ireland area, you'll have to spend the time learning a new language. It's only common courtesy.

I can't really help you as I've never been to Europe or immigrated anywhere.

However I would imagine its a really crappy time to move anywhere...the dollar is low, and economies everywhere are suffering right now.

More detail would probably help. Why do you want to move? How old are you? Are you single? Kids? What do you plan on doing and how much money do you think you could make doing it?

I know you said you don't have a trade, but if that's the case AND you only speak English, how do you expect to get by?

I don't have any real advice (sorry) but if it were me, I'd seriously consider Canada. Culturally, you'll be in for a change - not a huge one, but a change.
You will be physically close enough to transition to a move there and not just do a cold turkey thing (which I had done in moving to Europe years ago), and you'll probably find a much more welcoming situation in regards to how you're treated. Not sure about the job market though.

English Speaking / Mild Climate preference:

Australia
New Zealand
South Africa
Bermuda
Virgin Islands
Jamaica
Barbados
plus almost anywhere else in the Caribbean.

Can't say much for myself; the only one on that list I've been to myself is Jamaica. The Seven Mile Beach in Negril is out this world! I'd go back again any day.

Ireland is pretty mild in the winter I suppose if you can put up with rain for months on end. I was there in September and October and it was really pleasant.

I am 40 single, no kids, not a close family.... Just moved from Boston to Portland Or with a girl and came back within a year. Because of the girl,Portland's great!

I am very unsettled, this is the perfect time for me to do this.

I have some money, not allot but certainly enough to make this happen.

I don't know any specific names, but you could always contact one of the companies that provide English tutors/teachers to people in other countries. Only speaking English isn't necessarily a plus, but you won't be required to speak anything else.

I have a friend who did this years ago. He went to Taiwan and generally got payed to speak English to a bunch of kids who already spoke pretty good English as a kind of "advanced" study class.

You'd probably still want to learn some of the local language though. Living someplace where you don't speak the language isn't nearly as fun as visiting there for a couple of weeks. I'm sure you'd also have to pass some kind of background check...probably a drug test too.

Depends on where he moves. Its really easy to get a job out here in Calgary, while moving to Saskatchewan or Manitoba it might be a bit harder to find a job.

The weather won't be that big a factor out here in Calgary. While it does get cold, we get chinooks so while the weather can be -25 one day, the next day it could be +15. We usually don't get too much snow in the winter either.

Immigration laws vary. I considered going to Australia several years ago. I wrote to the consulate in LA and they sent me a packet of info. The one thing I noted was that, like you alluded to, some type of skill or education that they needed would do a lot towards granting the right to immigrate.

Once you decide which country, contact the corresponding consulate in the US and ask what requirements/limitations there are.

Good luck.

I suggest New Zealand.

Most places in Europe speak English. I would go where the hottest chicks are. Perhaps Sweden, Norway, the French coast, or Spain. Yeah, Spain would probably be my first choice.
