What's cool to see...what's a waste of time. Do Quebec-ians drive on the right hand side of the road? AHHAHA!
Any tips would be appreciated!!!

The old town is gorgeous. Orleans is a very quaint countrified
island in the river. The food there is exquisite.
The Godin factory is in La Patrie QC, near Sherbrooke, I would
call and see if they offer a tour for visitors. At some point in my
life I plan to drive along the southern shore of the St Lawrence
Seaway at around Rimousky and Matane around the Gaspe peninsula. Je Me Souviens
PS, it's Quebecers not Quebec-ians.
There are a few Quebecers here, they should be able to help.

+1 on Quebec City. I haven't been many other places. My wife's parents used to have a house in the Laurentians before they moved out west. Wish they still had that. |

| | | ...actually, it's Quebecois....
If by Quebec you mean the province, not just the city, Montreal has one of the most amazing jazz festivals in the world - lots of free stuff, they close up the streets right downtown and have huge stages, great sound and amazing acts - let alone tons of world class acts, in many genres outside of mainstream 'jazz' - google for festival du jazz de Montreal -

Btw, the French you learned in school doesn't work up there.

I'm not really into Jazz, but can appreciate the talent. Architecture, history, science, Art, Dining....
I know very little French...almost nothing. Just 1 class in high school (15 years ago!) Will I be ok with getting around and finding things and dealing with the locals? I'm a bit nervous as this would be my first time in the part of Canada that is REALLY French!
Thinking of renting a car and driving around to different parts. Is this a good idea?

| | | | If it's Montreal I'm afraid I can't help much.
Now about Quebec, there's a lot you can see. I suggest hanging around the Chateau Frontenac, there's nice architecture and a sweet view of the St-Lawrence River. You should try poutine, the Cochon Dingue restaurant, the Montmorency Falls, the Musée des Beaux-Arts (Jean-Paul Riopelle is badass), the Musée de la Civilisation which is usually presenting awesome displays.
For some time this summer there will be historical ruins open to visitors, which is pretty interesting stuff considering it's about the first colony that led to North America.
You should also visit La Barberie, a local microbrewery with great beers.
The girls are great, too. |

Just in case you're interested, there's much more than just jazz at the Montreal Jazz Fest. If you're willing to pay from $30-50 then Public Enemy, De La Soul, Aretha Franklin and Marcus Miller are coming (I'm not sure how much Aretha Franklin is but the rest are the price I said). |

Some French people can be snooty and yell at you if you don't speak french, the roadwork sucks, gas prices are high, montreal is a fairly ugly city if your not downtown, and a bunch more crap.
"Je me souviens" how much better this province was before the language police started making English a sin.
this is going on though http://www.heavymtl.com/
probably the biggest concert in Montreal this year.
Besides that you'd be better off going somewhere cool, like Niagra Falls, Toronto or Nova Scotia

There's a difference.
