I've gotten him gift in years past... but I really don't know why. He's not terrible or anything but he's kind of a dick. He's impolite, inconsiderate, and disrespectful to me and our parents and yet expects pretty much whatever he wants whenever he wants it and for the most part he gets it. The only redeeming quality that I can think of that he has is the fact that he can work hard and gets good grades. It sounds harsh but his being here doesn't benefit me in any way. Would it be wrong to skip him over in the Christmas shopping?

Will it just be the two of you? If so, perhaps you can arrange that you both don't buy each other anything.
In the end, it isn't really the forum to show how much you disprove of his behavior. You might generate more problems by not getting him anything. |

Yea, I've contemplated making some kind of thread about my brother before but ultimately decided exactly what you said. I just want to know how other TBers may have dealt with "meh" family members (however cruel that may sound) and Christmas gift giving.

Maybe someday it will change him.
Just how I feel about it anyway. |

Just how I feel about it anyway. | I get the feeling that this is what's gonna end up happening. Honestly, I think I just wanted everyone to be on my side and then I could laugh at him on Christmas without regret but I don't think I have it in me... for better or worse.

Its not really expected, though on occasion, when Ive had extra cash, Id spring for a gift for him.
