About 100,000 of those are fuel ignition post crash.

Of course, steam engines are actually susceptible to exploding whereas gasoline engines will more likely just blow a head gasket (or something else that doesn't kill the driver) when they overheat...

I never stop marveling at the people who think every car should work flawlessly and who panic whenever there's a fault. Granted, if my car burned to a cinder I'd be looking for some answers, but I'd take the insurance money and move on.
Here's a key sentence in the Corvette story: But Martin says that they're not concerned about a rush of owners running to grab a Corvette ZR1 or a Camaro SS for a multi-month green reprieve. Mostly because the type of person who buys a Volt presumably isn't interested in high horsepower for the type of drives they're taking in a Volt.
Right on target. The Corvette is the ANTI-Volt.

This thing has been blown way out of proportion by everyone who hates GM and the Volt, and will try to make them fail any way they think possible. Just watch Fox News sometime.

I fail to see the problem.

Anyways the Volt is a new concept overall isn't it? Priuses weren't perfect when they were 1st made and neither were fuel injected vehicles. I remember Volvo's "K-Jet" mechanical fuel injection which was a combination of a carburetor and fuel injection. It had problems galore just like this Volt has.
Now granted I loathe Chevy, but at least they're attempting to make a green vehicle. These new damned cars should at LEAST get 40MPG. Ffs, my 76 Valiant gets 30MPG.
It's a new car, if something happens to it, you're covered. Chevy will issue you a new car...What's the problem?
