We have one of these at the shared workshop I use. Anyone who pops it gets charged a $150 replacement fee, but it's better than losing a finger.

This one shows the brake kicking in and inventor putting his own finger in: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=E3mzh...eature=related

The shop is milking people then, because replacement cost is only about $60.

Plus the cost of having someone replace it, and discouraging people from trying it out.

My school's shop has one of those, some kid purposely set it off 2 days in a row. That combined with other things he had done got him expelled.
