ticketed for speeding...

Sign in to disble this ad
on a 7 speed pedal bike. Yep, thats right. doing 55 in a 50 after landing a huge drop. I ran right by a speed trap, I almost was gunna leg it and run, but instead I stopped.

Apparently, since I past him on a road, I had to obey all rules of the road, even though I'dda wrecked myself if i used any brakes. So now I got a 40$ ticket for speeding. I'll happliy pay, and frame the ticket, because thats just badass. Though, I am kinda perplexed why the cop did it, ahwell, 40$ and no points. Wicked.

So thats how my day went, how was yours?

I think this is the first time I've heard of somebody getting ticketed for speeding on a bike. Congratulations dude!

He was the chillingest pig ever though, watched us for a bit then tried to ding us for trespassing. Srsly, I lol'd at the attempts.

All the guys I was with chipped in to cover to ticket, I only payed 8$ I think, Either way. I think this was a memoriable day in my biking career.

wow. you've got some bragging rights. what were you riding? I think the fastest I've gotten (on my old trek) is 35mph and frankly, that was a little scary for me.

Better a $40 ticket than 2 weeks of healing from road rash (or worse). Nicely done, young man.

A bike that you're comfortable on, and is very reliable is a key componet in these kinds of ventures.

Riding a 1998 kona stab (blue with yellow flames, old school) marz Bomber Super T's, the rubbers would be Kenda Kinetics K-tire with a 2.5 in the back and a 2.35 in the front. Knooooobies

I credit the nice working of the locals on the landing of the drop to giving me the speed. That was a 15 foot drop to a nice smooth tranni, which happened to go straight for the road

smperry - I wish it were in MPH, I was rocking that in KM/h. So I was hitting about 35.

The bike was solid; the rider, not much so!

Oh...55Kph. On a mountain bike that's moving pretty well. Getting a ticket for speeding on bike is still pretty cool.

I've found that when you get over 50mph on a road bike wearing nothing but lycra and a helmet, your concentration gets REALLY focused. I've also found that bumping shoulders, elbows, and hips in a tight pack of riders at 35mph can be a good thrill.

It happened to my brother once when we went for a ride up one of the canyons here. He got pulled over for doing about 55 in a 40 zone. I kept riding and had no clue (I was up the road from him a little).

He framed the ticket and it's on a wall next to one of his trophies.

50+?! Zoinks. I think the highest I've gone was 42mph or so, but I only do that on a road I really know well. A few weeks back, I was climbing a hill with the High Gear team and we did 31mph up a hill, although that's in the pelaton and with the wind to our back.

Still, frame that puppy! I've always kinda hoped I'd get pulled over for speeding for bragging rights.

Yeah... you can really get zipping down a few of those canyon roads. I like coming down Big Mtn. (but hate going up ). The part from the top of Little Mtn. into Emigration is fun too, but some of those drivers up there are nuts.

My usual ride is to just pick one of those canyons and go up. If I feel brave I will go up Little Cottonwood Canyon, but it's 10.5 miles up at a 10.5% average grade ! That's bigger than the Alpe D'Huez in the Tour de France!

My brother got the ticket in Sardine Canyon, up near Logan.

Little Cottonwood is quite a bit out of my comfort zone at my age (and weight ). It's awesome if you can do that one. I drive up to USU every so often for work, so I'm familiar with Sardine Canyon. Never ridden it, though.

Why? I've been pulled over doing 32 in a 25 on one of those puppies.

Totally possible, but very difficult.
