I bet the band sees about 1 dollar of every ticket sale when they are done.

When buying tickets for an upcoming gig from the site.
Ticket was £12. "Processing fee" was £2.50 and the "Postage & Packaging" was £2.50. If you wanted to pickup the ticket at the box office, it was also £2.50.
Not as drastic as the link tho. And you surely didnt need to buy "premier parking" ?
Always try and buy tickets from a shop, it just works out cheaper.

And when I have, I've gone down to the venue to buy the tickets to avoid at least some of the fees. However, according to some of the commenters, the venues are now charging full price in person, too--no doubt due to pressure from TM, since they have exclusive deals with seemingly every major artist and venue.

All I got told was "Go to Ticketmaster", even with major ticket vendors round here (with Newcastle having three concert venues, you can get tickets all over the place). So I ended up paying well over $80 (£38) and even then I couldn't just have my ticket delivered straight to my dopr for security reasons- it had to be sent 40 miles from where I am now in Newcastle to my home address, and then be re-sent to my own house.
I now have the ticket but it was a fuss about.

The Liquid Tension Experiment show I'm going to in June we bought our tickets straight from Cal Prog (one guy doing all the handling himself) and it was like... 6 dollars convenience charge, and free mailing.
Ticketbastard sucks. |

I mean if there ever was a need to cut out the middle man... I bought tickets to see James brown where I just printed the tickets off. Then left them at the house then went to an internet café and printed them off again. No reason why the bigger bands couldn't start taking care of the distribution themselves. They charge slightly more but less than a ticket from ticket master everyones a winner.

The result is more gigs, cheaper CDs and better chance of fans getting tickets.

Really I think this the best way for bands to do conduct business. Especially if you aren't an international top selling act.
It just seems that even big acts could hire a few people to distribute tickets for much cheaper than the BS in that article. Maybe they don't care because people are going to come regardless.
