Tin Man

So has anyone been following the Tin Man miniseries on SciFi? I think I watched the first few seconds of part one, and I really wanted to get into it, but it seemed too psychological for me and I was quickly turned off.

For what it's worth, I don't think I've sat down and watched The Wizard of Oz in it's entirety (at least, not recently), so I dunno if I would completely appreciate this.

Anyone out there think it's worth following?

I'm watching it right now...its actually a very different interpretation of the Wizard of Oz story, loose references to the original story...but very interesting (to me at least) none the less. If you are a fan of the original and you don't like new twists definitely not going to be your cup of tea, if not, check it out its fairly interesting

I can't stand SciFi's remakes. The really screwed up Dune and Flash Gordon. If they want to do original stuff, fine but don't screw with the classics.

They could have taken this story to some very interesting places....

instead it ended up as a "power of family/sister love thing".

It smells like it got a couple of rewrites too many.

Most people don't realize this but Mr. Baum wrote 13 OZ booksn (Aside from the Wonderful Wizard of OZ), most people have only seen the movie and not read the book(s).......Tin man actually is not a re-imagining of the Wizard of OZ as it actually takes place 500 years after Dorothy first went to OZ (In fact the main character is a direct line descendant of Dorothy Gale)....i enjoyed most of it except for the cheesy ending...

In case anyone is curious

List of Oz books

The Wonderful Wizard of Oz (1900)
The Marvelous Land of Oz (1904)
Ozma of Oz (1907)
Dorothy and the Wizard in Oz (1908)
The Road to Oz (1909)
The Emerald City of Oz (1910)
The Patchwork Girl of Oz (1913)
Tik-Tok of Oz (1914)
The Scarecrow of Oz (1915)
Rinkitink in Oz (1916)
The Lost Princess of Oz (1917)
The Tin Woodman of Oz (1918)
The Magic of Oz (1919--posthumously published)
Glinda of Oz (1920--posthumously published)

Don't forget Bicentennial Man, I Robot, Total Recall and The Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy. The only one that was any good at all was Blade Runner (Do Androids Dream of Electric Sheep?)

I'm not expecting Hollywood's interpretation of Larry Niven's Ringworld or Orson Scott Card's Ender's Game to be any better.

I agree it looks like "I am Legend" isn't going to follow Matheson's book very well either...
