tips on drinking?

Sign in to disble this ad
so long story short, a girl from my gf's work wants to go drinking thursday night. gf is out of town so instead of my normal watch her and only get a bit tipsy, im pretty sure ill be doing some more power drinking. they both work at bars so id assume the tolerance is present.

so im looking for some means of keeping up. ive figure the follow:

bread before drinking
some greasy food as well to slow the alcohol absorbing
pace myself (kinda goes with out sayinjg)
and a coffee or two before going to counter act.

I figure i should be alright, my tolerence is decent. just dont wanna see the 1/2am shot's rail come out and it turn messy

Its much more fun when you don't eat anything.

I once went to a mates 18th, hadn't eaten the whole day. To cut a long story short, I was unconcious by 7pm.

But yeah, seems like you have got it worked out, eating lots has always being the biggest factor for me (or not eating if you are stingy bastard like I am )

it's not rocket science! unless it goes wrong, in which case it can be, in a bathroom sense.

anyway you've got the right idea.

line your stomach, don't mix your drinks, don't try and climb anything higher than a bar stool. it may seem like no one's ugly at 1:55am but believe me, they are.

also have you cleared this with yr lady? sounds like a recipe for serious relationship meltdown if you ask me. or a big fight at the very least, conducted via mobile phone at 2am.

my girlfriend is aware of this happening (prolly should have made that clear in post 1)

to sum it up, she got asked to go to the bar by her coworker, said she could not make it but i could in her place

stay away from tequila shots. They can turn a good night into waking up with no pants and the worst hangover of your life... I would have some bad memories, but I don't remember it at all.

1: Don't spill any
2: Pints not halves.
3: Big-ish dinner beforehand. Pasta & Rice are good for slowing the effects, but excess can lead to bloating (plus if it all goes terribly wrong & you end up "Parking the Tiger" at least you'll have something to show for it)
4: Know your limits, if you fetch up 2 days later covered in worrying stains with a traffic cone on your head having been the guest of your local Plod the GF will most likely be rather unsympathetic.

You're going out drinking with a girl. If you can't keep pace, I'd suggest that she is going out drinking with the bigger girl. There endeth my tip.

So you're going out drinking with a girl who is not your girlfriend, have your girlfriends expressed permission, AND you're planning on getting sloppy drunk?

Well... have fun, I guess...

This will not end well . . . or very well . . . depends on your perspective.

Either way it's sure to be a learning experience.

don't forget to drink a glass of water once in a while so that you aren't hungover the next day!
