Just FYI.

I have gone the whole day without being beaten down by the police. My secret? I didn't break in to anyone's house, rob anyone, murder anyone, shoot at or try to run over any police officers.

I almost wondered why threads like this aren't common on Talkbass, and then I remembered that this kind of thing is normal--not news, and people don't talk about non-issues.

Anyway, one time a police officer stopped me to ask what I was doing, and then told me to have a nice day.

Couple weeks ago a cop pulled me over because one of my brake lights was out. No ticket, no warning, just wanted to let me know. I thanked him, and meant it sincerely. Guy did his job and was friendly about it.

(I really need to change that brake light. )

Ok so, here's my non abuse story:

Florida just changed the law that you need to renew BEFORE your birthday instead of the last day of your birth month. I didn't get the memo so there I am on the side of the road @ 2 A.M. getting the message in person. Then the officer asks me for my insurance and registration.

That's always fun because it's in the glove box right under the Colt .45 auto. I tell the officer it's in there (Legal carry in Florida. God bless America), he clears me to open the glove box take the .45 out and get the paperwork.

I've got probably 4 or 5 past registration cards for the vehicle but not the current one. I have 4 or 5 past insurance cards for the vehicle but not the current one.

I look at the officer and say, "Well, it appears that I'm a serious wrong doer and public enemy. Where do we go from here?" to which he replies, "You go home and get your plate renewed in the morning. Have a good night."

He should have thrown himself in front of your car as you started to drive away then charged you with attempted murder.

They could have used the tazer after the attempted murder incident, but only after Steve gave up.
