Came across this Tone Deaf Test and thought I would try it for giggles. http://jakemandell.com/tonedeaf/
I got a 86.1% Correct but seems like I did a lot of guessing than I care to admit. Anyway, it's a way to waste a few minutes if you're bored. |

For example, the 33rd phrase is played two times on a synthesizer with strong harmonic content, and although they are supposed to be the same, there are different harmonics clearly heard. This phrase has a 23% success rate, which is half what a totally unanswerable question should have.

Of the 61,036 scores recorded, you scored in the 79th percentile.
The percentile is the percentage of subjects who scored less than you.
These are the ones I missed
(correct answers; % who got correct):
15. Different 48%
18. Same 54%
24. Same 57%
30. Same 46%
32. Same 66%
33. Same 23%
Interesting results--I did much better in the first half of the test. Did they get harder, or did I have hearing fatigue? All but one incorrect were the same, but I heard them as different. |

The thing is, I have no speakers here at work so I was randomly guessing. This put me in the 4 percentile range which means that, at the time I took the test, 2441 people have done worse. lol
Maybe I'll try it later and actually listen to the passages or tones or whatever they're playing.

I got a 72.2% or somewhere around there (not passing the above comment as an excuse or anything)

83.3%
And I thought I was tone deaf because I can't really hear the difference between my £80 peavey and amps about worth 10 times as much.

Some of the exercises were, but some of those phases were so long and complicated, I just plain forgot what the first part sounded like by the time it got to the second part. That doesn't mean I'm tone deaf. It means I can't remember complex musical phrases after listening to them one time. Not to mention the terrible question 33.
Edit, Scored an 80.6% |

Half the stuff sounded like he was trying to remember Axel F, poorly.
