well, when more than ever, popular music for sheeple is more about producers and beat-sellers than about artists, what do you expect?
I buy drumset packages from Bangin Beats...and all the time I get spam from "producers" who wanna sell their beats or buy mine. Little they know I just want sounds for my stuff.
My Wife had a station seek on a road trip, and we both remarked, on the station it landed, that the beat / basic melody was ok, but that 99 percent of the tunes played were by whiny moany types that seriously have no substance or personal feeling in any line they "sing". It's all
blab blabblabblabblab CLUB blabblabblabblab WE HOT blabblabblabblab I love you blabblabblabblab SHOP TIL WE DROP blabblabblab CELLIE.... just utter nonsense...there is no craft. Just "ok, we will make you a hit, just sing this"...

four on the floor kick
snare on two and four
loose hihats on the upbeat
people saying "hoooo" "heeey"
catchy synth part
break about 2/3 in with spoken words and person singing through vocoder
play chorus three times, last one is twice as long
autotuned and pitch corrected vocals
lyrics about nothing in particular, just mention money, krunk, cars, parties, or clubs and your golden
smile for the radio

Oddly, the mash up is less annoying than either song seperately.

<3 u catchy pop music | I know right! I found this at work and I just had it on repeat for like 4 hours! Got off work 2 hours ago and it's still playing . I think I like California Gurls better just because Katy can sing but I love both.

Not saying that what they're doing is particularly skillfull but it's fun as hell to listen to for me. Besides it's pop, it's all about the image. You'll only get rich n' famous if you are sexy, can dance, have some kind of gimmick or all of the above. IF you don't at least meet two of the criteria after you make that song you're gonna have to sell to someone else if you wanna make any money off of it, lol. Quote:
