Took a fall at the weekend, could do with some TB Style cheering up

So I was running on Saturday, lost my balance and managed to cut my face up pretty badly and knock out my two front teeth. Looking at £4000 for implants or £2000 for a dental bridge to fix them properly, until then I've got to wear a denture, which, fortunately I was able to get on the NHS, though I'm finding it awfully uncomfortable. While its not physically major, or by any means the worst thing in the world, I can't help but be a little down. I'm a 21 year old guy with no front teeth. I don't know if I'll be able to sing wearing the denture and I sure won't without it....

Cheer me up guys!

Must have been painful...you said you lost 2 front teeth...did you cut your face badly enough to require stitches? You are young, so you should heal quickly. And just think, now you can sing "All I Want for Christmas is My Two Front Teeth". I am so sorry, but I just couldn't resist that!!! I hope it at least made you giggle a little bit. Do you have a girlfriend or a wife? Think of all the sympathy and loving care you'll get while healing. Seriously, I am very sorry, and I do hope that you will heal very quickly. Hope you can sing without any problems. Hope you get your dental work done soon. Oh, you said "cheer me up guys"...I'm not a guy, but I hope this cheers you up some.

Had a few stitches on my lip and one in my gum. I do have a girlfriend, she's been very sympathetic which has stopped me getting too down!

As for the guys thing, I tend to use it as an asexual term! But thanks

This is proof that my ex-boss got it right and I quote,

I suggest you ride a stationary bike from now on, maybe take
up a less physical hobby like building model airplanes or playing
the bass. OTOH, people have been know to injure themselves
with X-acto knives or falling off a stage. Maybe subscribe to
the 'What are you reading thread'. Reading is pretty benign.

At your young age, I would go for the implants if you can
afford to have that done. Sorry to hear about the fall,
best wishes for a speedy recovery.

Someone is bound to chime in with the 'no pics no missing
teeth' line but I think we ought to give you the benefit of
the doubt this time.

Well, regarding money: it is a one-time expense, a small amount over your lifetime.

Also, many people lose teeth in accidents, and/or have very expensive operations on their teeth for various reasons. Many fighters, hockey players and other athletes have to do without their front teeth. You are actually bad-ass now!

In fact, a few generations back people had to make do with awful mouth hygiene, and lost their teeth through malnourishment all the time (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Scurvy).

So, there you are with your perfect replacement, thanks modern medicine! We're all spoiled!

Consider though, if you can move away from looking at your circumstances to determine if you should feel this way or that way. Otherwise you are always dependent on what's going around you to feel good. Perception is reality. What are your core values?

What were you running from that caused you to take that bad of a fall? Or, maybe, how big were the breasts that distracted you enough to take that bad of a fall?

Thanks to everyone! Just thought of something rather amusing. I was running at that pace because a friend said to me that I was slow, so I challenged him to a race, all very friendly and the likes.

If I wasn't too proud to not race, I wouldn't have fallen.....so it turns out its true, pride DOES come before a fall!

Oh and a bit of an update....my gum has almost all grown back in now! Which is nice.

Looked in the mirror.....realised I wasn't Maki, then cried because that also means I'm not surrounded by japanese women!

At school we make a ring in the corridor. A ring of dudes. Then we ambush people walking through (generally are girls, the guy in the electric wheelchair, teachers and wierdos not ambushed). Well, not ambushed, as it quite obvious what we are all up to, given we are 20 just waiting for the next pray, but I digress (I've always wanted to use that word

). There is also a habit of pushing a "ring member" into the ring, and push him around till he manages to escape or is taken down. A few days ago a guy in the ring thought he was a greater man than said ring, and stepped voluntarily into the middle. Then he broke his ancle

Nothing like hearing about others misfortune to cheer you up, eh?

...I think we've ALL had a St Patrick's Day (or two or three or...) turn out like that!

If you survived a 1970/80s era Butte, MT St. Patrick's Day celebration without at least one tooth missing... you really weren't doing it right!
