You guys got it pretty bad over there. On Long Island there was very nasty weather, but nothing too terrible, at least not by me. The delays on the LIRR did kill me though, people got stuck at Penn the day of, and the trains have been out of whack since the tornado hit, lots of delays and canceled trains.

I live in the mid-west where such nasty weather is pretty much part of the normal year to year existence. I will say that seeing you folks get smacked pretty hard by the blast that went through your region, it even made us jaded folks who live in our part of Tornado Alley scratch our heads, and ponder your region's misfortune, as you folks usually don't get this kind of stuff. You folks have my empathy. I've lived through Omaha Nebraska's 1975 tornado that killed a few people, I think three if I remember right, a grim yet fortunate statistic given the ferocity of the tornado activity that went through the middle of a city our size, but it left a wide swath of destruction in terms of property, trees, houses, etc. It's sad that one person did get killed from what I heard, and the property destruction stinks, but at least material things can be rebuilt and replaced. I hope you and folks in your region recover as best and as fast as you all can.

my brother lives in Brooklyn and called my mother and told her. We get em in this area every now and then. A couple years ago, my ex husband was on the phone with me at his work, and was watching one come up the road. I told him he was stupid and needed to get shelter. He said ceiling tiles were falling down while he was running to the safe spot.
Glad that you guys are safe and hope things get back in sync soon for ya
