Tough times in PA

Phillies, clearly the best team in the regular season just got eliminated. The Steelers have a pile of injuries and look suddenly ordinary on defense while they can't run the ball. In the meantime the dream team looks like a nightmare. Oh well.

Real PA folks root for Eagles (braces for projectile beer cans)...but they've sucked this season, too. At least it beats the general malaise of Delaware (my former residence), where there are no major league sports teams and everything is kind of lame. It's like cramming Ohio in the middle of DC, Philly, and New York

Phillie fans have to wonder. They've been the best regular season team in Baseball for the last two years and have been spectators for the series. This year they go out and get Halliday giving them three legit Cy Young pitchers and they are still bridemaids? I haven't watched them enough to call them choakers.

They bought Halladay last season...this year, it was Cliff Lee (returning to Philly).

I watched enough of them this season (& last) to have some interesting discussions with my family members that live in south Philly.
All season long, I bitched how they cannot hit.
The rebuttal I heard loud & often was: Doesn't matter: The pitching is stellar.

Right...and you can lose 1-0.
