It's called the Tacoma over here (for those not familiar). Of the 4 or 5 people i've known that owned them, not one ever reported mechanical issues.

Ive had one for 20+ years the biggest problem I've had is that the seat belt no longer retracts then I take it off, yeah.
With regular manitance that infamous 22r engine will out live your grandkids. Infact heres just what ive done to my old truck: drpwned it, crashed it into a tree, had a small fire under the hood, flipped many times, and it still runs, just take care of it and it will work.
Take care of most things and they work.

yeah, before 1997 (i think) they were just called the truck. Yeah the 22r is a tough old bastard, most of them around here for sale have the 3VZ 3L 6cyl in em becuase no one wants to sell any of them that have the 22r.

While I'm not a truck fan (I'm a muscle car guy), this made my eyebrow go .

Tacoma - 1995 and up

The only thing going on with the Tacoma right now is a frame rust problem from 1995-2000 (I think), but Toyota is standing by their products, so it's really not that big of an actual problem.

You don't have to be the original owner and all you have to do is take it to a dealer for a free inspection. If it fails you will either get a new frame or Toyota will buy back the truck at 1 & 1/2 times the blue book value.

Did anyone else find this ironic and funny?

I want one with the 22r engine. They are indestructible.

I had a co-worker who owned a Tundra and had nothing but good to say about it. I own a Nissan Frontier, but almost got a Tacoma when I was looking around prior to buying the Frontier. Great trucks from all I see/hear.
