Here I go again, posting random threads on OT. But back to business, how many TB'ers drive Toyota's, and if so good or bad experience. I have 3 now for the record, a 86, and 97 4Runner and a 87 FJ60 Land Cruiser. Will try and find pics, but most were lost on my old computer and it's demise.

*Cough* I prefer the Nissan *cough*

I tried maybe a dozen others in a similar price range before buying, and the Rav was easily the most comfortable and smooth-handling one. |

Had it for about a year now and really like it. It's a real fun car to drive.
It's raining out, so here's a pic from the porch.
The only upgrades/mods are the 18" TRD rims with Yokohama Parada 2's
Unfortunately, the *cough* women driver who had it before me destroyed the original rims. Glad I got them though. It's handles really great.
Off to the right is my old 95 Pathfinder. Now a winter vehicle as the Scion with those tires wouldn't even move in the snow.

We don't get that brand at all here. It has a bit of a Honda look to it.

Scion actually means "a descendant of". In this case Toyota.
The difference is Scions are sold at Toyota dealers. Lexus is it's own entity. |

| | | | I drive a 1999 Toyota Avalon XLS.
190,000+ miles on it .
Doesn't miss a beat.
The car is loaded , leather , all power etc... and it all still works.
Big car !, I can haul friends around and leave the front seats ALL the way back.
Uses no fluids other than gas.
Best part is it is mine . NO car payment.
My parents drive toyota camry's but get a new one every couple of years . He always has his bumper to bumper warranty that way .

The younger demographic thing is amusing. When I got the Scion, all of the sales literature, including a DVD, was full of hip hop, and the options were things like matching purple anodized pedals and shift levers. After I had bought the car, I asked the salesman who his customers were. The answer was: Cheap geezers like me. |

awesome cars. I have tons of music gear and it never ceases to amaze me how much i can fit in there.
i was thinking about converting it to biodeisel but i might hold out for an electric 4runner(if they ever make one and if they can ever get least 300 miles on a charge)

Nice car, loaded, got the 268 hp six in it (same one as my wife's Lexus). All-wheel drive. No-key door locks and no-key ignition. Only two niggles ... the icky texture of the dashboard and the ride is a little stiff, probably due to the 20-inch wheels.
It's got a ton of room (it's really wide), and I can carry two JBL PRX 518S subs, two PRX 512M mains and a bass rig in it. I'll buy only two brands of cars any more; Toyota (including Lexus) or Honda. I don't think any other manufacturers can come close to their reliability. I've owned a couple of Mercedes, and they were essentially expensive pieces of junk with a status marque.
I bought my last American car in 1971 ... a Vega. You know, "get a Vega before one gets you." Although I must confess that my Sequoia was built in Indiana and the Venza was built in Kentucky.

All things considered she's been incredibly reliable, the few problems I've had to deal with never once had me stranded on the side of the road.
Toyota's are great, I really wish they would make more fun cars again...
hope toyota(and subaru..) doesn't drop the ball on this project... |

I wish I had known how to take care of a car back then as I would probably still be driving it. that car was a gem.

It's fantastic for storage. I wish it had a little more balls, but hey... soon as I get the lazy girlfriend to learn how to drive, she can inherit my Matrix and I can get something with a little more get up and go.

| | | Own a Highlander, quality has been so so -creaks & rattles- I was wrong to buy first model year. Had a MAF failure and only 7,000 miles on it. The Navigation crapped out then started working again.
Ford was touting that their quality now equals Toyota. The reality is Toyota quality has slipped to Ford's level. Toyota Quality is now no better than American manufacturers. | | Thread Tools | Search this Thread | | | |
