Update from this thread: Donating My Kidney Tomorrow...
So I made it back from my kidney transplant this weekend with great success! I was admitted Friday morning, was released Monday, and have just been lazy since then. Sorry for the delay in posting.
So they took my left kidney laproscopically, meaning it was taken using scope, and a small 3 1/2" incision at my belly-button to pull the kidney through. It cut down on pain a lot, although it still hurt, and makes a faster recovery time for me.
I took a couple self-pics to give you an idea of the scarring:
(Yeah, I know the one is kind of MySpace-esque, lay off )
They shaved off like half of my Austin Powers rug off too, which really sucks right now because it's growing back.
It was pretty painful at first, and still is sometimes, overall it's just really uncomfortable now, I'm majorly bloated.
The donated kidney is working extremely well, my sister is looking like a regular person again (she was in pretty bad shape before). She should be home tomorrow.

Second, laproscopic surgery is possibly the greatest invention in modern medicine. I've got a few puncture wounds, but healed quickly from surgery because of the laproscopy.

I had no idea they could take it out using laproscopy now, that's amazing! Having been gutted like a fish myself, that probably cut down a ton on pain and healing time.
