Trapped in a small town.

Alright I'm stuck in a small town with only 10k people within an half hours drive.

How do people deal with this.

Find your passion / pass time and then find folks who share that. Don't be surprised if you have to drive at least an hour to find these things... I've been in a town of ~15k for four years and that's where I've arrived.

There are a little less than 1500 people in the town that I live in.
I wouldn't have it any other way........ I hate big cities.

That's about the same for me. I have to drive 20 minutes to find a stoplight. I watch TV, cook, and walk the dog.

I come from a small town like that, the joke used to be there was nothing to do but drink and listen/play music.

I come from a town not much bigger than that. Can be great places to love. Start your own band and be a big fish in a small pond.

That's a big town. I grew up in a town of 600. We didn't even have a stop light. We used to walk to the lake and fish.

I think I'd like living in a small town, I used to think windsor was too big for me, I took a trip to toronto and found out that while I was right, that it wasn't nearly as big as it could get. I like to think that I'd like being in a small town, I like the idea of being able to slow down with things a bit.

We had 750 and a stop light and a corner store!
Had some problems staying out of trouble when I was a teenager.

Go look at the stars, explore the woods if you have any.

It wouldn't be so bad but this place got horrible demographics.

Too few people here are even close to my age.

You don't know what it's like until seeing a person your own age from a distance makes your day.

jeesh dude,
If you are that unhappy where you are.......... Move!

honestly, you really shouldn't need people on the internet to tell you that,
you should be able to figure it out all by yourself.

Lol well this isn't a permanent situation, but I gotta last another 8-10 months. Moving tends to cost a bit of money.

I'm your age and I live in a town about the same size, in which my interests and views are fairly uncommon (I work as an academic out of town, I'm into the arts, good food, good drink, I'm a bit more progressive in my views than folk generally are around here, etc.)

All I need is my wife-to-be, cat, books, music, movies, and my space. I kind of live in a bubble and, honestly, I'm well past maintaining friends for the sake of having lots of people around. You might be a social-type so maybe this doesn't work for you.

Oh, and yes, drink lots, buy lots of stuff online, walk, start a pub band and be a big fish. There's stuff you can do in the country that you can't do in the city; work it out and make the most of it.

We have some regular gigs in towns that size or smaller. 1 bar in the whole town. And yeah, pretty much all there is to do there is drink. Makes for a pretty good gig though, when you know everyone in town over 21 will be at your show, because it's the only entertainment they've had in weeks.
