is absolutely hilarious.

The "big star" that isn't mentioned in any of the commercials/trailers was actually the weak link for me, but even he was pretty funny.

Robert Downey Jr. is a talented cat. His comedic timing and facial expressions are incredible.

Not the same kind of humor per se, but I haven't laughed this hard since Superbad.

But a subplot of the movie is about how Ben Stiller's character played a person with mental disabilities in a previous movie. Dialogue about Stiller's character includes "retarded," "stupid," "imbecile" and "moron."

More than 130 national advocacy organizations have gotten together to protest "Tropic Thunder" because of that dialogue and its tone.

The protesting groups include the American Association of People with Disabilities, The Arc, the Special Olympics and the Down Syndrome Congress. Local chapters of these organizations, and other advocacy groups and religious groups, have staged protests like the one in Middletown at theaters across the U.S.

"This is one of the worst assaults on people with disabilities," said Anne Eason, Eva's mother. "And we're going to put an end to it."

Walter Glomb, the president of the Connecticut Down Syndrome Congress, said he is not concerned that the attention will prompt more people to see the film, although other protesters were concerned that DreamWorks was making a profit from using language considered derogatory.

"The issue that needs to be addressed, the real issue, is to get the public to appreciate that this language is insulting and demeaning to people," Glomb said. "I think it's more important that we articulate our message and let consumers and movie-goers decide how to respond."

DreamWorks has responded to the widespread protests by issuing a statement that says the comedy is meant to be a spoof of Hollywood. The actors in the movie have said in interviews that they are exercising free speech and trying to poke fun at actors, not people with disabilities.

"This film is in no way meant to disparage or harm the image of individuals with disabilities," the statement read.

But when merchandise with the phrase "Never go full ******," a quote from the movie, hits stores and eventually children's hands, the protesters believe it will double the impact. The Connecticut Down Syndrome Congress has sent letters to Connecticut schools urging them, under state bullying laws, to prohibit students from wearing any of the merchandise that uses the word "retarded."

+1 What was it Denis Leary said about "putting on a helmet and gettin' off the bench". I heard an interview with Stiller and he noted that it has to be seen in context.

I still like Pineapple Express better. It seemed funnier and it was a much tighter movie overall IMO.

Saw it this weekend. I thought Robert Downey Jr. was brilliant in it. It had it's moments but I hate Ben Stiller with this character voice (same as in Dodgeball) so I'm still trying to decide if I liked it or not... It was amusing seeing Tom Cruise trying to play Alec Baldwin's character from Along Came Polly.
