The original is a true classic. Saw it at the drive in theater when it first came out.

it's not actually a remake

and the Coen Bros are behind it, so there's a pretty good chance this will turn out well

I'm going to check it out, but they've got some big shoes to fill.

EDIT: Its based on the same book, with the same title, with the same characters, and the same plot, so I'd say that's a remake.

yeah, it's an adaptation of the same book. not a remake of the movie. they say it's gonna be a lot closer to the book, meaning it will mostly focus on the girl

It may well turn out to be decent, BUT I'm in the camp that there are some things better left untouched.

What's next, one of the Twilight dudes remaking Dirty Harry?

God Bless, Ray

the whole beauty of that movie is that John Wayne played a character so at odds with his normal type that it made the audience appreciate him even more.

Like Denzel Washington in "Training Day"

The Coen Bros should make Rooster and La Boeuf have a gay tryst.

I'm not at all a fan of John Wayne and the Coen Brothers are incredible and diverse movie makers so I cannot seem to muster the same outrage. Also Matt Damon and Jeff Bridges are both great actors (a heckuva lot better at acting than John Wayne, that's for sure).
