This (and things that are related, like travel) is really the only reason someone should have a Twitter. Other than that I find it to be extremely pretentious.

I use it to announce new updates to my web pages, and I also read the BBC and NPR headlines for breaking news. I don't use it for personal stuff.

Twitter seems useless to me unless you're someone who people should actually care to hear about. Meaning celebrities posting might be considered "cool" by those who want to hear what they're doing. But for everyday people to use it seems absurd to me.

Also, in events such as this and travelling, as mentioned earlier, Twitter can also be useful. But for these people posting their own nonsense that nobody really cares about, it seems ridiculous to me.

I had to get one just to watch a video one of my favorite bands posted. And since I have one, I figured I would use it.

And I use it very sparingly. Only if I have something really clever to say to my three or four friends who use it several times a day. I also find it quite useful for following bands I like.

I consider the exact moment when I first learned what Twitter was to be the point where I realized society had arrived at the "Idiocracy".

But I really like letting the world know when I have to take a dump.
