Twitter, anyone?

Sign in to disble this ad
I just signed up (@BillEmAll) and I'm looking through what's on. The only notable bassists I've found so far are Bootsy and Flea, but there's some good stuff out there. Who are the must-follows you guys have come across? Also, feel free to follow me for odd ramblings, swearing about the weather and so on.

Fascinating stuff.

I can't stand Twitter. That place and World Star Hip-Hop are just two places on the internet that I won't go. Granted, in Twitter's case it's because the vast majority of people vast majority of people who I know that use it, are idiots.

My kids got me texting, then they got me on myspace which was short lived. Then the blog for my business. Then they got me on facebook which is pretty cool. They just don't get the twitter thing and I must say that I don't either

I use it because it's full of knowledgeable people from the design world (I've had conversations with people I couldn't have dreamed of talking to otherwise).

I don't have many friends or bass players there – I use Facebook for friends and TalkBass for teh music skillz.

I won't claim to say I "get" Twitter, but I've found some cool uses for it.

As already mentioned, I've gotten to talk to some famous people that you wouldn't normally get to.

I've also found it incredible to see how many people will post about a certain topic, using the hashtags (#). It's awesome to see who is talking about similar things you may be and all the different input.

Also, I've been following a lot of bands, band members, actors from tv shows, and it is really cool to see the kind of stuff they post about their every day lives and their opinions. Not to mention that there's a bunch of hidden goodies people may post. Some bands post up videos that you won't see elsewhere, interviews, sneak previews, contests.

The twitter I use is my band twitter anyways, so I have no personal attachment to it, but the once or twice a week I may log in, I always find things to enjoy.

Edit: @rar_music

I'm on it, but seldom Tweet. Thought the whole concept was a stupid idea, for folks to follow and live vicariously thru narcissistic people (mostly celebrities).

Got my account on a whim, because a couple of friends convinced me I needed to have one.

@bored_designer

You know how it goes, so your follow gets mine..

I know, old thread but wanted to say there are tons of famous, ex-famous, and trying to be famous bassists on twitter. There's also non bass musicians.

I don't have all their Twitter names handy but some I follow are, Tal (of course), Bubby Lewis, Tim Levivbre, Meshell Ndegeocello, Keith Carlock, Jeff Keezer. Nick Payton (ugh), MTD, Sadowsky, MOOG, Juan Alderete. There's tons more on there.

I'm also a bit of an info junkie so I follow a lot of news, fire and police scanners, etc. Since joining Twitter, I know things right as they happen.

I hate facebook, but Twitter's cool imo.

P.S. Twitter, You can send the endoresment check to my P.O. Box at.....

I'm figuring out that twitter is great for finding out news on album releases, tour dates, and fairly humorous quips from failson.

I'm new to this twitter business but it seems like it's a world of your own making via the people and content you choose to connect with.

For what it's worth, follow me at @milezhc and I'll follow back.

Also, I propose the idea that we use this thread to post any bass related content on twitter that we all can find useful.

I don't like twitter at all. That is, of course, my personal meaning. I don't hate twittering people , but this twitter thing just isn't my thing.
Here we use the word for many alternative purposes.
I'm twittered to death (bored)
I'm going for a big twitter (toilet)
Could you stop twittering? (interrupting)

I used to have an account, rarely updated, and deactivated it a few weeks ago. I understand and appreciate its appeal but it's just not my cup.
