U of Tennessee & Lovie Smith

Sign in to disble this ad
Anyone down Knoxville way heard anything about Lovie Smith possibly jumping the Bears to be Head Coach at Tennessee?

Bears fan here hoping and PRAYING the U. of Tennessee will take this worthless excuse of an NFL coach off our hands.

David Cutcliffe has withdrawn his name from consideration. ESPN’s Joe Schad is reporting Kippy Brown is scheduled to interview this morning. Schad says Mike Hamilton wants to have a new coach by Friday night. Lovie has not even been on the radar.

edit: Derek Dooley is also in the mix

Strange... I know the Vols weren't quite up to snuff this past year but I would still think that would be considered a pretty sweet coaching gig.

SEC competition is a mutha but that's a nice part of the country to live in.

Im a Bears fan too and the only thing I heard is that he has fired six coaches so I'm guessing he'll stay in Chicago.

Yeah darth, but the problem is that all the guys the Bears are interviewing to replace the coaches they fired, are choosing other opportunities cause they know Lovie's going to get canned next year and they'll be on the street with him. No one wants to take a 1-year gig. That, and Lovie's a doofus who's way out of his league as an NFL Head Coach... no one wants to work for him.

As it stands Derek Dooley seems to be the running contender... dunno how I feel about that, though.

In some ways, Lovie's calm, fatherly style of coaching would be better suited for coaching college kids as opposed to millionaires.

It would get him out of a contract, and would help him save face.

So this guy has a .500 record in the WAC. But hey, he once worked with Saban and he's Vince Dooley's son--I guess those are all the qualifications the Vols need in a new hire at this point.
