Yet another UPS horror story. While i have to admit, i have had nothing but good luck with UPS, this is the first sour incident i have experienced.
I ordered some shoes on zappos, they didnt fit, so i printed out a return label, and dropped them off at the UPS store. Its been 5 days since i dropped them off, and there is no record of them having been dropped off. I called the store, and the kid gives me attitude and tells me to take it up with UPS proper. I call UPS, and they say theres no way i can file a claim or investigation because it never got scammed into their system. What the hell am i supposed to do? How can i prove that i dropped off these shoes? I dropped off another package that day that got to its destination no problem and was scanned in. This sucks. |

I did call zappos, and they said they actually received the shoes, and i got upgraded to a VIP user (free next day shipping, and faster return processing). So crisis averted, but i find it weird that the package never once got scanned on their journey to zappos. Oh well, all is well. |

Hell, I've had more issues with sellers than with shipping companies.

I'm guessing that the origination scan, the one that should have been done at the UPS store, wasn't done, but the guy in brown socks that picked it up did a scan and it was routed like so many boxes by its (scan) bar code.
The problem is the UPS store, a franchise outlet that hires min. wage employees who could care less.
Stick with the Mom & Pop stores - they care about your biz.

This is why I'm convinced that it's "locational" thing. just depends on the particular drivers and depots. Some may be run well, others not so well. In my area USPS rocks, UPS is so so and Fedex is dreadful. I've spoken with others here on TB who have nothing but great stuff to say about Fedex for instance. It just seems to be that it all depends who's running the show in any given area.

UPS hardly ever gets it right, although they did deliver a box to me without a problem on Wednesday. They made up for it by crushing the box in half and banging in at least two of the corners for good effect as well.
The UPS man did a great job of handling the situation though...by not ringing the doorbell and not pulling up directly out front and pulling up a few houses away and doing the walk so that he wouldn't have to deal with anyone face to face.

On the other hand, I have to say that blatant overcharges are the only bad experience I've had with them. UPS always delivered properly and in time, and I did have good service when I called about missing info or delaying a delivery.
The thing is, USPS does just the same without gold-plating my cardboard at the border.

They re-labeled a package that was being sent to me. The shipper printed a label and got a tracking number, when he dropped it off at the store they re-weighed, re-labeled, and shipped on a new tracking number.
I spent 5 days waiting on the tracking number to update, at which point I started calling around. The shipper even went back to the store to talk to them for me. Eventually I was able to get a FedEx rep to check the store's shipment lists which is how I found two packages being sent to me over the same time period, one had shipped, one was still waiting.
The day it showed up, it was never scanned into the receiving facility, so I didn't get notice it was going out for delivery. I had planned to be home for the afternoon to sign and was getting impatient. Just as I was walking out the door there was a little asian gentleman dragging my 90 lb package out of his truck. | | Thread Tools | Search this Thread | | | |
