The UPS Store has "lost" my bass!

Sign in to disble this ad
This morning I dropped off a bass at the UPS store for packing and shipping to it's new owner. 5 minutes ago, the manager called me to ask if I'd accidentally left with the bass. When I told him no, he says "uh oh". He then proceeds to tell me that they've "misplaced" my bass and they're looking for it right now. Their store is only about 2000 sf, so it's obviously been taken.

He still hasn't explained how they lost my bass. Here's hoping they make good on insurance.

Total freakin' incompetence on their part. I'm sure hoping the "missing" bass will reappear very soon.

How unique was the bass? Pass around a few pictures to local pawn shops and music stores.

Oh no!!! Dude this crap makes me so mad
I very recently had a 9 hour runaround where a bass that was supposed to be coming to me, was delivered to the wrong location. Called UPS, called the warehouse that it was delivered to, nothing.

Turns out that the UPS guy "accidentally" scanned my bass at the wrong location, but just figured "no harm, no foul". By the time I recieved the bass( around 9 hours later) I had flown in to a panic and filed a claim in UPS, had the "seller" calling UPS and the warehouse, etc......

If you want, you can read about the drama here LAKLAND OWNERS GROUP #27

Keep on 'em. It's somewhere and someone knows where.
I hope it turns out to be a bad mistake

If you have to file a claim, you're probably a lot better off with "You lost it"
than you are with "You damaged it".

So, there's that at least.

They lost my Sadowsky for about a week once. It fell off the grid in Texas on it's way from Calif. to Fl.

I was freakin', they where lookin'...came home from work one day and the box was laying on the floor of the carport for the whole world to steal if they wanted to.
No notice, no nuthin'. I almost ran over the thing.

#@% UPS...

the bass has not been "found" yet. The manager won't call police, because he's not sure it's been stolen. The police tell me it's a civil matter until the store reports it missing.

Here's the kicker: UPS corporate says I have no claim against them, only the franchisee.

It was most likely swiped by an employee. I don't know how they deal with their franchise stores but they have people investigating internal theft all the time at the hubs.

Yes, fully insured. UPS says, however, that they will not honor any claim. Because the bass hadn't been packaged by the store, they claim it isn't in their system yet.

I'm going down there now. Somebody come bail me out!!!!!

ok then, here's what you do. Go sign a theft complaint against the store manager. If he won't report it to the popo, then you should. That'll get some action pronto. We've seen those basses, they're beautiful. Someone saw that and thought, "hhmmm, pretty and expenive. I'll be taking that. Even if i don't know what it is." Theft is obvious here.

Yes. Have a police officer meet you down there. If you left after paying and insuring the item to be shipped and the item crossed the counter, it's their responsibility regardless if they contacted you about it missing. it's obvious that someone in their employ is a suspect, and everyone there should be questionned / held accountable.

This stuff cheeses me off so damn bad. Best of luck to you.
