Looked an awful lot like a Chinaman landed the first shot. So much for strengthening ties via sports..

Hard to say seeing you can't see the Yank on the screen, looks like the Chinse guy is moving away and gets dragged back or something happens that makes him turn back round.

Don't know if it's true or not but I had heard that China's starting to land a bad reputation in the sports world due to this sort of thing. (brawling, bad-sportsmanship, etc) I have no idea who started this one though, the video's not the best.

the article i read stated that the china team has been penalized several times this year for fighting on court...like you, i can't vouch for truth, but that's what the article said

From what I have heard, the Chinese are embarrassed by their team's reaction since they are the hosting team, and because it was done in the presence of the US Vice President.

According to the article, "Vice-President Biden did not attend the game."

It was a pretty crappy display, regardless.

Biden strikes me as the kind of guy that would enjoy a good old fashioned ball game brawl.

Although that bit at the end on the baseline where the Chinese player threw 4 or 5 punches while the other guy was down looked a little more vicious than the the typical "I'm out here to look like I support my teammates but I really don't want to fight somebody hold me back please" action I'm used to.

These are grown men (military men!) fighting college kids. The refs were horribly biased to. China had 50 FTs and Georgetown had like 15.

The Olympic committee ruled that all the girls were at least 16 years old within 6 months of the birth certificate showing that some of the girls were actually 13 year old.

You could also look at it another way.

China had 50 FT's because they were being hammered throughout the game.

Finally a Chinese player got fed up and decided to play rough as well.

An American pushed first after being fouled.

Anyway, no one can make a fair judgement without seeing how the game developed from the beginning.

The Big East teams do play alot rougher than the average Chinese team.

So,...they could've taken that roughness personally.
