US drone on the ground in Iran...

Sign in to disble this ad
U.S. official: Iran does have our drone - CBS News

What do you suppose will happen when they hook this baby up to a truck battery trying to learn what makes it tick...

and the GPS system pings its location (+/- 7 meters)?

Very glad I'm over here worrying about roundwounds and pickup configurations.

Looks suspiciously intact. Even in a "controlled flat spin" as suggested by the article, the thing should be a pancake after it hits the ground.

I'm just surprised that nobody thought to install some type of self-destruct
mechanism on it.

Usually when aircraft crash they're pretty much toast, so that kind of serves the purpose of self-destructing

Usually............ yes, but obviously not always.

Oh well, hindsight is 20/20.

It's now time to spend another couple of hundred billion dollars to come up with the next latest secret technology.

I don't think drone technology itself is all that secret.

The secrets they are worried about are most likely what it was taking images of during its flight... Which I'm sure has an OH %#*( protocol built in.

Not stressing it, really.

they hacked it, took control of it, and landed it.

Apparently they are pretty easy to manoeuvre, the U.S. army apparently uses Xbox 360 controllers for them, no joke.

The drone, aka "The Beast of Kandahar", was flying over sovereign Iranian airspace.

Well, it's hard to spy on our enemies without an occasional flyover.

I think the best foreign policy in this situation is a slight magical wave of the hand and an official statement that states "these are not the drones you're looking for."

Apparently it was programmed to find a nice place to auto-land if it lost contact with its base.

Did you know that those drones are piloted by people working in Nevada?

We should turn on its gps and and throw a missile at it. Just get rid of it because they will reverse-engineer that drone and make their own.

(Ha. That's a good rhyme.)
