The first kiss off the ship is a practice steeped in tradition and the fact that a lesbian sailor happened to be chosen for it is really a non-issue. So she loves a women, what of it? Don't ask don't tell got repealed across all the services. There aren't going to be scenes of Marines in pink lipstick parading off the boat in a mini-skirt. That's just as out of regs as it was before don't ask don't tell. I know people are making a stink out of this photo, but honestly this very think happens far more often than you would think. Homosexuals serve in the military. They did before don't ask don't tell. They have and continue to serve their country to the peak of their abilities and have valiantly defended other people's right to call them all sorts of terrible things. While this moment is historic in that it is the first time a openly gay couple was allowed to openly show their affection in the military, it will not be the last by any stretch of the imagination.

Common sense is quickly vanishing out of our society frankly! Big up to postmodernism! Clap clap clap!

If people want to come into a thread an spread intolerance that's on them. Remember, in the US being openly homosexual in the armed forces is now protected under law (provided other codes of conduct are complied with). The title of the thread pretty much tells you what the content is going to be about - if you are going to be offended by it, why even click on the thread?

It's two people kissing. They love each other. Why should gender even factor into it?

As near as I can figure, two sailors got to have the semi-ceremonial first kiss on return from deployment.
It may be a little more 'shocking' the first time a male-male coule do it. But still, what's the big deal?
I'm straight but I still can't tell why I should be horrified or offended by this.
