Not really - I guess it's a financial package that makes sense, but as a sporting event it's a non-event. If England loose it''ll be an embarisment. If they win, then it's only the US.

I'm a traditional American sports fan, and not a follower of football, but I do know that America is likely not all that competitive against England. Even if I were into soccer, I couldn't get excited about seeing my country get beat down.

The American team has been slowly getting better of the years (despite a poor WC2006 performance) but yes, we're not nearly as good as our transatlantic brethren. We're still playing for recognition within the international scene, but hey, you gotta start somewhere.

Yep - we have the best league in the world and you probably have the worst!!

Only kidding - but it will be an interesting game, I am always surprised that the US gets rated so highly by FIFA then looks really poor when they play any European nation...

Sweden beat the USA 1-0 on 22 August 07 and Poland are pretty poor ...

USA were ranked as high as 4th in 2006 - but have never looked as good as the top 10 teams.

Funny I can't find Luxembourg ...?

Oh wait I just found Luxembourg's FIFA ranking -

157

..just behind St. Kitts and Nevis...

No wonder ...

nice comparison... we have a population of 480 000 and more than 40 % are foreigners. We're not the the motherland of football...

The Champions League is now where it's really at - most people in England won't watch Euro 2008!

The US are only 10 places behind England in the FIFA rankings & most of our (England) players are behaving more and more like overpaid spoilt brats erery time they get the privelege to play for their country.
I've had £5 on a 1-1 draw, Beckham will want to score for his 100th cap.
Go USA and teach our brats a lesson about football.
