Useless Information

Sign in to disble this ad
I have done a quick search and don't think this has been done before.
In this thread I would like you to post any random facts you know, the more useless the better (because I like useless information).

My contribution:
>A Kilobyte is actually made up of 1024 bytes (not 1000) and so on...
>A byte is the equivalent of 8 binary digits, about 1 letter
>In America a billion is 1,000,000,000 (one thousand million). In Europe it is 1,000,000,000,000 (one million million)
>Sound travels 15 times faster through steel than through the air

Lets see your prized useless information (does not have to be numbers based)

...only useless people haha

I discovered today that shoveling over a foot of snow in 50mph winds becomes an adventure when listening to Mastodon.

Here's a fact that surprises people: Mobile, Alabama is the site where Mardi Gras was first celebrated in the new world, in 1702. New Orleans has the biggest, but Mobile has the first in the Americas. That fact and $5 will get you fed at most fast food places. Partially fed maybe, but fed.

Depending on your current financial situation, this may be a bit of valuable information, potentially life saving information.

40 below zero is where Fahrenheit and Celsius intersect. That and apparently, there is a “best bass” for different genres of music.

Amps that go up to 11 are better.
