Using my iPod Touch as a Phone

There's a cool free app for iPod Touch and iPhone called talkatone. If you set up a Google Voice account, you can use your iPod Touch just like a phone when you are in any wifi area. I've already used it to make and receive calls and texts. Cool technology.

Just set mine up. bit of a time delay, but for free I can live with that. Cheap calling home when on the road will be nice.

Android phone companies already have figured it out. Most new contracts will include "extra" charges for things like that.

They (Verizon) tried to coerce us into changing to one of their "new" plans because of it.

Not sure about Bluetooth. I know someone who uses a corded earpiece with a mic and it works fine.

I use Skype on my iPad to make phone calls and it works
great except for the fact that it doesn't recognize my bluetooth
headset. The bluetooth headset works fine for listening to
music.

I don't know if it is simply missing from the Skype software
(should be an easy fix) or the common dogs at Apple/AT&T
somehow don't allow it. I have my suspicions.

That's why I was wondering if there are any other phone
apps to do work with a bluetooth headset.
