Ok, i havent seen a thread like this here, so I'll start.
Tomorrow im going to Edisto Island south Carolina. Really really tiny beach, not touristy at all, and most important to us bassists, birthplace of James Jamerson Ive been going all my life (its our family tradition on my moms side, same beach house everyyear) and i just learned this last year.
So where is everybody else going this summer?

My first time overseas since I returned from a stint in the Army, in Germany, in 1992. I'm really looking forward to it. I've done a little research and my Irish ancestor's originally came from the Cavan County area.

Since it's a sort of long drive for us, I'm packing the whole family and making a weekend out of it. Should be a lot of fun, I may even try surfing, god forbid.

So where is everybody else going this summer? | We went to Hilton Head last year, and that's a beautiful area of the country. Enjoy!
We went to Disneyworld two weeks ago and had a blast. (We have a 6-year-old son.) Next year will be a more relaxing vacation for sure. |

If the wife and I are lucky, we're hoping to squirrel away enough by September to take a long weekend in Wisconsin. Before then, there's nothing on the radar. One daughter just graduating college and another starting in the fall leaves precious little cash for anything but bills. I could gig 5 nights a week between now and then on top of both our day jobs and it still wouldn't be enough. |

Shasta, Shasta lake and all the sheep that are running around up there. Never really done real "Vacations," though I want to. 3 days in Redding is about the most vacationing I've ever done

I think that will have to wait until next spring, though. I don't think I'll have that much free time this year, so realistically I will probably only get to do a few 2-3 day kayak/canoe trips around the Alabama coastal rivers/bays.

The house is 100 yds from the Gulf. Three awesome days . . .
. . .and then the oil started washing ashore.
Luckily we can walk to the bay
After last night's storm, the beach looks a lot better.
