Vantage Point - How did this movie not FAIL at the box office?

Sign in to disble this ad
Our local video dive was all rented out of Old Man Indy Jones and the GlassHat so we picked up Vantage Point. Wow..this movie is horrible. The plot is OK (highly implausible but could have been entertaining) but the execution is horrible...total amateur hour in execution, dialogue, acting...you name it, it sucked. I'm sure all the stars in this movie (LOTS of them!) were happy with their pocketbooks but I can't imagine that they're proud of the product. I give it 4.5 fails.

Did any of you actually enjoy this stinker?

On the upside the last movie that we rented blindly was pretty darn good - Rendition. I heartily recommend it.

Rent "The Killing Floor" It's surprisingly good. No big actors, but an amazingly good execution.

Don't get me wrong I don't watch only movies with big actors or something, I like indy films and smaller films. I just figured ya know....Sigourney Weaver, William Hurt, Forrest Whitaker, Dennis Quaid...surely it's not a turd with those people in it. I mean Whitaker just won an oscar for The Last King of Scotland and all... boy was I wrong.

I thought it was awful. my parents purchased it and i borrowed it, when i gave it back to told them to bury it in the backyard and forget about it, same goes with the new Indiana Jones movie.

Dude... if you thought Vantage Point was bad, the new Indy film is FAR worse. Consider yourself lucky.

Oh yeah? I didn't ever hear much about it. I was going to watch it for old time sake. Maybe I'll pass.

Normally I hate peeps who are like, man this movie was sooo boring that I fell asleep while watching it. Well, I've watched this movie at 12 am, after a 10 hours sleep and I fell asleep watching it at about 20 minutes

You missed my "Worst Movie Ever" thread regarding the travesty that is the latest Indy film, then.

Actually that rings a bell. I may have seen it and then totally forgotten about it.

A lot of terrible movies do well at the box office, while great movies do poorly. I blame it on the intelligence of the average movie-goer.

Vantage Point was a stinker. We rented it, and as we watched we kept coming up with excuses to go to the kitchen, go to the bathroom, go on the internet, hell I even went and did some homework. As each section ended, and a new one started, we would groan oh, NO...

It's not that the story was so terrible really, but the whole different-perspectives conceit was so badly directed and edited that I really didn't want to know what the next guy's perspective was.

I didn't think it was the greatest movie in the world, but I rather enjoyed it.

It's a spin on a movie you don't see very often, replaying over and over from a different point, adding more information to completely turn your initial opinion around.

I enjoyed it thoroughly.

Your avitar reminds me that Zorro The Gay Blade was one of the most poorly filmed, and poorly acted movies ever. It was cheesy, smarmy and condescending all at the same time! And it is, IMHO one of the best movies ever made!

Ah haaaaa, two fruits, whan vegitable and whan flower!

or this bit,

Esteban: "Don't be ridiculous, Zorro is not going to walk in here and say here I am!"
Don Diego: "Here I am!"

I liked the new Indy movie. So there.

I thought the biggest stinker I've seen in years was the critically acclaimed "Sideways" with Paul Giamatti. Most boring movie I've seen in decades. What a waste of film.

Agreed - Sideways would have been much better if they had included CGI groundhogs...
