Veggie Smoothies ?

Sign in to disble this ad
Saw my doc today. Says I could drop a few lbs. A buddy dropped by and told me to try veggie smoothies, they're filling and because the veggies are essentially raw you don't lose any nutrients. I saw some recipes on google but do any of you good people have any combinations that you can recommend?

1 bunch green leafy vegetable of choice (50% of total)
Fruit of choice (50% of total)
1-2 Bananas or 1 avocado to emulsify (make creamy)
ginger, lemon, parsley or, stevia to taste

Thats the recipe I use, I love green smoothies. I add whatever else I feel to it, like Blueberries, my friend used tomatoes. So this is a good start really, the rest is whatever you're favorite, cold, sweet vegetables and fruits you want to have. Of course add Ice.

My cooking teacher, made one out of OJ, lettuce, celery, and some acai berries (very good for energy) and strawberries.

Yeah very similar for me--a few leaves of chard or other dark leafy greens, half a red bell pepper, maybe half an avocado, a carrot, a lime, a "knuckle" of ginger, and the rest can be whatever fruit is fresh and tasty in season. Enough water to give it the right liquidity. Plus yogurt if I feel like it. I don't add sweeteners because I actually like the taste just the way it is; and I don't add ice just as a personal preference.

Besides the obvious loss of ruffage in the pulp which goes in to the garden, I like hitting my juicer up for a carrot/apple concoction. Adding ginger also makes it special. Adding Vodka...no sorry, don't do that.

My wife makes the one that was on the Today show not too long ago. I'm not a fan of all those veggies at once, so I'll add some fruit to mine. Dr. Oz has a good one too. Do a search for Dr. Oz green drink.

If you check out Naked Juice, there labels tell you exactly what is in them. They are AMAZING! I just have never heard of most of the ingredients and do not know how to obtain them. The Green Machine one is Oh... EM.... Gee... xD

Ginger, Carrot and Apples is my favorite healthy smoothie recipe. Excellent!

Thanks for the great suggestions. They all sound like something I can easily do.
