Verizon Cell Phone

I'm looking to get a new phone since my two year contract is ending soon. I'm on my parents plan from Verizon wireless. Of the phones they offer right now, what do you guys suggest? I'm mostly going to use it for texting and calling only (since that's what I'm used to), but if I have other features, I may use them. So which phone is the best in terms of reliability, construction, battery life, least dropped calls, the normal stuff.

I was thinking of getting one of the newer touch phones especially. But I did notice the blackberry line is pretty extensive as well. Do you have to use the internet connection with the blackberry, or is it ok as a regular phone?

Go for the Alias, it's less expensive, reliable, and mine has yet to malfunction. I mean sure after the 5th or 15th time I dropped it the battery popped out, but that's normal for cells I use.
But you should probably go with whatever you like best and will most likely make your guitarist put his cell away in shame.

I like my Voyager. I'm going to be getting one of the enV touch phones though once I can "upgrade". I like having the full QWERTY keyboard myself.

Yeah, I'm seriously thinking about getting one with a qwerty keyboard as well.

I'm one of the few people who actually doesn't like the iphone at all. But I may be a few months in getting a phone, so what is hot, new, expensive, and top of the line now, will probably be my phone in a few months. .

We don't know when LTE will be completed... best we have is "2010", which could be december this year, orrrrrr december next year .
Also, the iPhone, IMO (!) isn't that great of a product. I like having a real keyboard myself. I'm sure I'd get used to the iPhones, but, I like my voyager better anyway.

I had thought I heard that Apple was going to put out an iPhone w/ a slide QWERTY keyboard, but, alas, none to be found...

I'm going to stick to verizon since that's what my parents are going to pay for. They're going to stick to verizon since my dad can get discounts through work, and they're the only service who seem to work at all at our house.

"I" do not work for them. But, I've got friends, same as you . It really seems to depend on who you ask - some same first 1/4, some say first 1/2, some will only say 2010. I read into that with my pessimistic (sp?) vantage point and said "ah, so, December 2010 then eh?"

I have Sprint and a Blackberry Curve. It's a nice tool, but it's definitely oriented more to business use than to personal and entertainment. I've had many problems with web browsing (their browser stinks) and with audio/video. Overall, it's OK but I'm not blown away. I'm on a university plan so I'm probably going to get rid of it and move to a Palm Pre as soon as I can. I've always liked Palm devices anyway...preferably with the Palm OS, not with Windows ME.

I still think the Dare is the best thing out there that Verizon has. It's smaller than the Versa/Env3, has a great camera (if that's your thing, I find it pretty handy sometimes), and I've banged mine up pretty bad and it still works great! The downside is no physical keyboard, but that doesn't bother me.

My cousin has one of these. She says about the same thing. And it actually had a signal out at our house.

I'd kill for a qwerty keyboard on mine.
But I'm relatively happy with my chocolate it does what i needs to do, great battery life, caharges quickly and I've never dropped a call.

Blackberrys are great and all but until they have MS terminal services it's just not worth the extra 30$ a month.
