Verizon Wireless Phones: the enV

I have to get a new phone sometime soon. I have a razr now that I don't really want to get rid of, but its starting to mess up on me. I also don't want this same phone for another 2 years, because even though I like it, I know I don't want it for that much longer. So I was thinking about getting the enV, its not my favorite phone design in the world, but its better than all the other verizon phones... so what do you guys think? opinions? reviews? skeptic remarks? carrots?

I actually want one of those a lot, but I am not switching service providers... if I were going to do that I would just get an iPhone with At&T! thats what I really want!

but two of my friends have rumors and I like that phone a lot more than the enV or any other

I have an enV orange and like it. All I do is call and text on it though, maybe an occasional pic but no web surfing. I will say I need to get mine checked because the bottom row of letters doesn't light up anymore.

I've got an enV, and I've been happy with it. Haven't had any problems with it so far.

I've had my enV for over a year and absolutely love it. Best phone I've ever had. Does everything I need it to do and more.

Peace,

James

I was looking into the enV but it was a little too bulky for me. I got the Samsung Gleam instead. *I think* they have similar features (though I only use my phone for calls and the odd text message). It's only been a couple months and it's already scratched up...as much as I TRIED to keep it clear of them.

I've had my enV for over a year, and I like it a lot. It takes great pics, the web service is actually not bad (I'm constantly checking my Gmail on it), the qwerty keyboard rocks, and the mp3 player works great. I've got a 2gb microSD card in it loaded with music.

James

hmm sounds pretty promising from you guys

things I am concerned with: the size of the phone (too big), the size of the screens (too small)

anyone know if they are coming out with a new one soon? I can wait a month or two (I hope) I mean, this one has been out for almost a year and a half according to a random web site I was on

That's pretty funny. It's definitely turned out to be a great phone though.

My wife even dropped hers in a lake. And after given a few days to dry, and a new battery, it still worked!

Palm Treo or Blackberry. They do it all.

My wife has one, she likes it. I think the screen is too small myself, but the keyboard rocks. I wish the screen was bigger, I would have got one.

She had a problem with hers within the warranty period. Something with a wire coming loose and the ringer not always working. Verizon gave her a new one on the spot, and it works just fine now.

I try to tell myself I need a cool new phone, but all I really do is talk - and the (very) occasional text message. Any phone out there does that so I guess I'm lucky not having to wade through the features and plans.

Anyway, a lot of my students have thos and seem to like them.

The Voyager is basically the newest upgrade to the enV. It's very close in functionality to the iPhone.

Peace,

James

My experience exactly.
I got an orange one and LOVED it. Less than 3 months later, the large internal LCD cracked (from the inside - it was NOT dropped and there was no visible trauma to the unit whatsoever) and then 3 days later the outer screen failed. Verizon said that the LEDs were not a warranty item and without replacement insurance they would do nothing for me, except sell me another new one (for $400). When I flat our refused and told them to shove it and to reactivate my old (cheap) phone, they offered me a 'reconditioned' enV for a $50 replacement fee. I've now got 3 months on the new phone and haven't had any problems (it is a GREAT phone), but I am concerned how long it will last.

Bottom line: good phone BUT pop for the extra insurance because they aren't that durable.

I do have the insurance I have had it for years, I break things often usually, I am surprised my razr lasted a year and a half without breaking...

but newsflash: the new enV comes out this month! I am getting one!

they fixed everything I didn't like about the current model it seams.

I don't know how I feel about the new model. It's nice, but that small front screen kills me. I love the Voyager front. My mom is very happy with hers.
